Keri Addison - Yoga Teacher
My working life has been a wonderfully varied adventure, beginning with becoming a Registered Nurse as a 20 year old and specialising in Operating Theatre work . This was following my fascination with biology and the workings of the human body. Over my adult life I have returned to this work from time to time, staying current with modern surgery techniques.I have also had a 15 year career as a building site labourer and hammerhand. With my partner we have built numerous houses and renovated many. My Studio is in our most recent creation, high on a hill overlooking Wanaka. Farmwork, ski patrolling at Treble Cone, and adventure racing all contributed to a life of a physical nature, and when imbalances began to show themselves in my 30s, I found Yoga. I continued to work my body hard, racing in a team the length of New Zealand at 42, and building houses up until last year . At the age of 49, I decided to change the physical demands I placed on myself, and began my life as a Yoga teacher. I love to teach and am passionate about the benefits of yoga – based on my own experience and that of my friends, partner and students. Despite an unusually hard physical life, I have remained free of injury for many years. I have evolved from chronic back pain sufferer with a prolapsed disc to pain and back incident free, despite continuing with heavy manual labour and exercise over the past 15 years. At age 50 I am well, very active and contented and enjoy sharing and teaching what I have learned. I believe that yoga is for everyone, and with the use of props, is accessible to even the most inflexible of us. It gives me enormous pleasure to guide those who come to my classes into a closer understanding of themselves through Yoga. Namaste, Keri Addison,
